Thank you so much for pledging your support to our project “Quick Wins for Thornton Heath”.
However, it’s with regret that we have to unfortunately announce that our bid for funding hasn't received Mayoral backing on this occasion. Although ours was considered to be a good application there was such strong competition for the grants this time around.
We put up a strong campaign to get crowd funding through the Spacehive web site to promote our project and generated great support from local people, businesses and friends who together pledged thousands of pounds towards improving Thornton Heath.
We were aiming to get pledges of £5,000 in the hope that the Mayor for London, Boris Johnson would provide the rest of the funding towards our overall target of £20,252 from his High Street Fund.
On this occasion we were unsuccessful but we are not demoralised by this set back. THCAT continues to strive towards getting real improvements for Thornton Heath and we don't want to lose that momentum.
So if you pledged on the Spacehive website your money will remain in your bank account and not be taken; we hope you will consider giving instead towards one of the projects we had aimed to fund if we had received the Mayoral donation.
If you would like to donate your pledge, paying the money directly into THCAT Community Bank Account no.13413780, sort code 20-70-15. Please click this link to chose which project from the four Quick Wins listed below you want to vote for https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GPFBWKJ
-Planting more trees and greenery along the High Street (approx. cost from £3,000 - £6,000 )
-Installing a decorative metal archway at Trumble Gardens (approx. cost £3,000 )
-Installing railings to show off the little Brook which flows under the main street (approx cost £4,000 )
-Providing decorative solar tree lighting near the Clocktower (approx. cost £200 )
We are very pleased to say that one of our Quick Wins, the garden tap we wanted to install to help with watering plants, has now kindly been provided by Wetherspoons.
Thank you again for all your support.
Many thanks!
